If you ask us, these are our personal picks for the best CBD cigarettes you can buy right now, ranked the way we'd rank them for a friend: straightforward, no bs and keeping it real. We're counting down from eight, and the pack we reach for first is at the bottom.

How We Ranked These CBD Cigarettes

We scored every pack on five things, in this order:

• Availability: can you buy it today on the brand's own site?

• Flower source: does the brand say where the hemp was grown?

• CBD content: how much, and is that number per stick or per pack?

• Ingredients: what's in the stick besides hemp?

• Price per cigarette: a 10-count and a 20-count at the same price are not the same deal.

If a brand didn't state something, we say so instead of guessing.

8. Toast Emerald, Best Premium Pick

Toast calls its hemp cigarette a Slice and prices it like a cigar. A 10-pack is $38, $3.80 a stick, with 100mg of CBD per Slice plus CBG and CBC, Oregon-grown flower, hemp paper, a wood-pulp filter, and triple testing per batch. A 2-pack is $10 to try one. It sits at eight because the per-stick price is five to ten times the rest of the list, and Toast can't ship to California, Kansas or Indiana. At least, not for now.

7. Sugar CRÈME, Best Flavored Filter

CRÈME by Sugar is built for people leaving flavored tobacco. Each 20-count pack is $11.99, $0.60 a stick, with 1,000mg total CBD per pack, over 50mg a stick, and a sweetened filter. Ingredients are listed as a premium hemp flower blend plus organic peppermint or vanilla with food-grade flavoring. Lab tested for pesticides and heavy metals. Two things held it here: Vanilla and Berry Dust are currently sold out at the time this article was written.

6. Pure Hemp Smokes, Cheapest Per Stick

If price is the whole decision, Pure Hemp Smokes win. The Pure Premium 20-count is $5.99, $0.30 a stick, with 50mg of CBD per stick, and the Original, Ice and Silver lines are $4.99 at 15mg per stick. The hemp is organically grown and processed in Southern Virginia. Each pack carries a QR code to its batch lab report. A carton of ten Premium packs is $49. You give up flavor range but it’s not as good as indoor-grown (IYKYK).

5. Mountain Smokes, Best Blended Hemp Cigarette

Mountain Smokes are the only pack here that blends hemp with other herbs. The 20-pack Natural is $12.99, $0.65 a stick, with 70mg of full-spectrum CBD per smoke and an ingredient list of organic hemp flower, organic mullein and organic sage, no tobacco, no nicotine, no preservatives.

Mint Squeeze and Pineapple Squeeze run 50mg per smoke and a carton of ten would be $115. For us, flavors are good but feels a bit more shake than flower, a bit loose on the roll so we found it a bit expensive for what you get tbh.

4. Plain Jane Hemp Filtered Pre-Rolls, Best Low-Odor Pick

Plain Jane doesn't call them cigarettes, but the format is the same: filtered hemp flower, 20 to a pack, $10.99, $0.55 a stick, carton of ten at $99.99. The Menthol version has CBD at 31.24mg per gram and Delta 9 THC at 0.12%, in vegan paper with an eco-conscious filter. A good pick for people who want less smell. Three flavors: Original, Full Flavor, Menthol. 20-count in stock. Flavors are average, no issues on pull. Pretty good for the price but when we reordered, the packs can have inconsistent quality.

3. Wild Hemp Hempettes, Best for Finding in Stores

Hempettes are the pack you're most likely to see in a smoke shop. Wild Hemp lists 20 CBD cigarettes per pack at $12.99, $0.65 a stick, with approximately 75mg of CBD per Hempette and USA-grown hemp sourced from Colorado and Oregon. The paper is hemp, the ingredient list is simply hemp and every batch is third-party tested. Five versions: Natural, Virginia Style, Menthol, Sweet and Pineapple Blaze. A carton runs $124.99. It’s almost available everywhere so you can easily find some. 

Each smoke burns relatively long and evenly for a cigarette-style preroll but since it’s mass-produced, don’t be surprised if you run into some ground stems or lower-grade biomass compared to smoking premium hand-rolled CBD flower.

2. Coast CBD Smokes, Best Quality Per Dollar

This could read as a hot take, since it's our own pack, so here is the math we're basing it on. Coast CBD Smokes are made from 100% indoor grown California hemp flower with no additives and no nicotine.

A 20-pack is $9.99, $0.50 a stick, the lowest price of any indoor-grown pack on this list. The pack states 2,000mg CBD plus CBG per 20, about 100mg a smoke, with THCA and Delta 9 listed as not detected. Slow-cured flower, biodegradable filter, seven flavors: Original, Menthol, Cherry, Grape, Lemon, Berry and Pineapple.

Every product page links to an independent lab report, and reviews says it all at 4.9 stars across 300 plus orders. Indoor flower and 100mg a stick at fifty cents is the best quality per price point here. It's simply the difference you could taste and feel when you try it.

1. Willie's Remedy Hemp Smokes, Best Overall

What to Check Before You Buy Any CBD Cigarette

A lot of this comes down to what you want out of a smoke. Some people want the cheapest pack that does the job. Some want one specific strain. Some want a flavored filter because that's what they're used to. All fair. Here's what we personally weigh, in order.

Value per price point. That means the most flower quality and CBD for the money, which is rarely the cheapest stick on the shelf. A 20-pack around ten dollars with a clear CBD number on it beats a bargain pack that doesn't state one.

Indoor-grown flower. For us, it's simply different. Light, temperature and humidity are controlled through the whole grow, so the flower is consistent from pack to pack and never exposed to weather or whatever drifts in from the next field. A brand that grows indoors says so on the page; if the page only says "USA grown," assume outdoor.

Clean and transparent extraction. If you’re like us who’s conscious of what they’re putting in their body, at least check how the CBD process was extracted. For example, Coast's CBD is extracted using water only, and each stick is packed with hemp flower that’s grown organically only. That's the standard we hold any pack to, ours included.

Not the ones on this list. Every brand above states no tobacco and no nicotine. Some, like Mountain Smokes and Sugar, add herbs or flavoring; the ingredient list will say so.
